COLOMBO (News 1st); The Government Printer says that funds are yet to be provided for the printing of ballot papers.

A Senior Officer said that in the present context, it is not possible to commence the printing process.

Ballot paper for postal voting for 17 district have been completed.

According to the Government Printer, the previous election date was printed on these ballot papers.

The Government Printer said the Election Commission will be consulted on amending the ballot papers.

In addition, the Election Commission says the Government Printer has not officially communicated over a delay in printing ballot papers.

Election Commission Chairman Attorney Nimal Punchihewa told News 1st that if an official communication is made, the commission can meet and decided on the matter.

However, the secure packages containing the ballot papers for postal voting are expected to be delivered to Postal Services on the 21st of March.
