Colombo (News 1st) - A 16-year-old girl died in an unusual shark attack in Perth's Swan River last week, foreign media reported Saturday.
The girl had been riding jet skis with several friends but may have jumped into the water for a swim. Her body was later recovered.
There had been several dolphins sighted nearby, but sharks are unusual in the Swan River. This is the first shark attack in the Swan River in 100 years, with the last recorded death being in 1923.
Australia records about 20 shark attacks per year, almost all of them at sea, of which an average of less than one is fatal.
