Millionaire businessman found dead in swimming pool

COLOMBO (News 1st) - The body of a millionaire businessman was found in a swimming pool at a residence in Pelawatta.

Police Spokesperson SSP Nihal Thalduwa told News 1st that the body was discovered on Thursday (2) afternoon.

The deceased businessman was identified as Roshan Wanninayake a well known name in the apparel industry in Sri Lanka.

He was 50-years-old and was unmarried, living in Wellampitiya.

His body was found in the rooftop swimming pool of a house under construction, that also belonged to him.

Relatives said that he was last seen leaving his Wellampitiya Home on the 31st of January, and never returned. 

Relatives had also filed a missing persons' complaint with the Wellampitiya Police.

Sri Lanka Police said that the deceased businessman's sister had visited the Pelawatte house, and discovered the body on Thursday (2).

Police said the cause of death is yet to be determined.

The Acting Magistrate of Kaduwela Kamal Wijesiri visited the site and conducted the magisterial inquiry, and thereafter the body was removed from the premises.
