COLOMBO (News 1st) - An injured Sri Lankan war hero has decided to start repairing shoes on the pavements of Colombo, as the current employment earnings are not sufficient to make ends meet.
This injured veteran is the Chairman of the National Movement for the Protection of the Rights of War Heroes, U.D. Wasantha and he convened a media briefing on the pavement in Fort Colombo.
He said the rulers who came into power on the laurels of War Heroes have neglected the veteran soldiers.
During the run-up to the 2019 Presidential Election, the Chairman of the National Movement for the Protection of the Rights of War Heroes U.D. Wasantha led a fast, and Mahinda Rajapaksa who visited the protest site promised to solve the issue.
