Mawanella PS Chairman arrested for soliciting a bribe

COLOMBO (News 1st) - The Chairman of the Mawanella Pradeshiya Sabha was arrested by the officers attached to the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption on Friday (13) for soliciting a bribe of Rs. 2 Million.

The Mawanella Pradeshiya Sabha is controlled by the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna, and its Chairman was arrested for soliciting a bribe to pass a building plan.

He was arrested while accepting the bribe of Rs. 2 Million at a popular hotel at the Mawanella Town.

The suspect will be produced in court, said the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption.
