For the first time in the men's World Cup’s 92-year history, FIFA has selected three female referees a
nd three female assistants to take charge of matches in Qatar.
The three referees are:
Stephanie Frappart who has already worked in the men’s game having officiated matches in the World Cup qualifiers and the Champions League.
Salima Mukansanga who has experience refereeing the biggest tournaments in Africa, including the Africa Cup of Nations, and the CAF Women’s Champions League.
Yoshimi Yamashita who has officiated at the FIFA Women’s World Cup, and the Summer Olympics.
The assistant referees are :
Neuza Back from Brazil.
Karen Díaz Medina from Mexico.
Kathryn Nesbitt from the USA.
There are 36 referees, 69 assistant referees, and 24 video match officials for the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar.
