Suspect arrested in connection with double homicide

COLOMBO (News 1st) - A suspect has been arrested in connection with a double murder in Katubedda. A T-56 firearm had been used to commit the crime.

The 21-year-old suspect was arrested with 6 grams of heroin and a firearm in his posession during a raid conducted in Moratuwa.

The murder was organized by a member of an organized criminal gang, currently overseas.

Police said the suspect assisted the killers to hide the firearm used to shoot the victims as well as transport the bodies, after receiving a tip-off from another Dubai-based organized criminal gang member.

The murders were committed on June 29th.
