Amber advisory issued for severe lightning

COLOMBO (News 1st) - The Meteorology Department has issued an Amber alert with regard to severe lightning.

Accordingly, thundershowers accompanied by severe lightning are likely to occur at several places in Uva, Eastern, Northern and North-central provinces. 

Fairly heavy showers above 75 mm may occur at some places in these areas.

There may be temporary localized strong winds during thundershowers, and general public is kindly requested to take adequate precautions to minimize damages caused by lightning activity.
