COLOMBO (News 1st) – Chief of Defence Staff General Shavendra Silva has been appointed as the Chairman of the National Sports Committee.

The appointment of the members including the Chairman of the committee took place on Tuesday (4) at the Ministry of Sports under the patronage of Sports Minister Roshan Ranasinghe.

The other members of the National Sports Committee Chaired by Chief of Defense Staff General Shavendra Silva includes Arjun Fernando, Dr. Maiya Gunasekera, veteran cricketer Sanath Jayasuriya, former national netball coach Thilaka Jinadasa, National Olympic Committee Secretary Maxwell De Silva and Additional Secretary of the Ministry of Sports and Youth Affairs, Prasanna Chandith.
