No bus & three-wheeler price reduction despite fuel price reduction

COLOMBO (News 1st) - Bus unions say that despite the price reduction in Petrol, bus fares will not be reduced.

Gemunu Wijeratne, Chairman of Ceylon Private Bus Owners Association said that although the CPC has reduced the price of Petrol, the price of Diesel has not been reduced, therefore the fares will not be reduced.

President of the All Ceylon Private Bus Association Federation, Anjana Priyanjith stated that there will be no reduction in bus fares.

Meanwhile, three-wheeler trade unions said that even though the price of petrol has decreased, there will be no reduction in three-wheeler fares.

Lalith Dharmasekara, President of the All Ceylon three-wheeler Drivers' Union, stated that the Government does not provide enough petrol for passenger transport.

The Ceylon Petroleum Corporation on Saturday (1) took steps to reduce the price of a liter of octane 92 petrol by Rs.40, and  its new price remains as Rs. 410.

The price of a liter of octane 95 petrol has also been reduced by Rs. 30 and its new price is Rs. 510.
 
However, the prices of auto diesel, super diesel and kerosene have not been revised in any way.

Moreover, the Lanka IOC stated that it too will reduce prices in parallel with the CPC.
