12 breast cancer patients reported daily

COLOMBO (News 1st) - The National Cancer Control Program says that every day, 12 cases of breast cancer are reported from Sri Lanka.

Specialist Dr. Hasareli Fernando said that there has been a rapid increase in the number of breast cancer patients in Sri Lanka in the past two decades.

The Breast Cancer Awareness Month started on October 1st.

In line with the awareness month, steps will be taken to raise awareness with regard to breast cancer at the local level and to refer diagnosed patients for treatment.
