COLOMBO (News 1st) - Russian Airline Aeroflot states that it will resume regular flights from Colombo from 9th October.

Accordingly, starting from October, Aeroflot will resume regular flights to Colombo, Bangkok, and Goa, operated on Airbus A330 aircraft.

The resumed flights will initially operate twice a week.

Previously in June, the Aeroflot A330 (SU289) was grounded in Colombo following a court order obtained by Celestial Aviation Trading 10 Limited of Ireland, the owner of the aircraft, against Aeroflot in a Colombo court, over a lease dispute.

This led to the flight service being suspended in Sri Lanka after eight months of operation.

However, the Commercial High Court of Colombo later reversed its own decision, while Transport Minister Bandula Gunawardena apologized for grounding the flight, saying that it "was a terrible mistake" and that Sri Lankan authorities apologize for what happened.
