Suspect arrested for arson and breaking into MP residence

COLOMBO (News 1st) - A suspect has been arrested in connection with breaking into the house of MP Akila Ellawala and setting fire to his property including vehicles.

Police stated that on May 9th, the suspect entered the MP's house located at Barnes Ratwatte Mawatha, Balangoda and set fire to vehicles and property.

The suspect has been identified as a 58-year-old man who is a resident of Balangoda, Hunakumbura.

Several MP properties and vehicles were fired and destroyed in the events which took place on 9th of May.
