SLPP Kandy Dist Chairman: Majority with Rajapaksas

COLOMBO (News 1st); The Chairman of the Kandy District Coordination Committee for Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna, Gunathilaka Rajapaksa said that a majority of the counry still remains with the Rajapaksa family.

Gunathilaka, further speaking said that former President's Secretary P.B. Jayasundera, dubbed 'Economy Killer' by MP Wimal Weerawasa, should be held directly responsible for the economic crisis. 

Furthermore, Gunathilaka, said that the former President Gotabaya Rajapaksa's downfall came into being due to the advice of P.B. Jayasundera, Ajith Nivard Cabraal, S.R. Attygalle,Ven. Rathana Thero and fertilizer import agencies.

He also acknowledged that although the organic fertilizer implementation was a commendable concept, the implementation of the said concept was wrong, and alleged that the fertilizer companies even gave funds to parties such as the Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna, and created protest movements in the entire country. 

"Some people who do not know about agriculture, such as Dr. Padeniya, have given wrong advice to the President. That is why people such as Ven. Rathana Thero is not here today. That's why our president got into trouble. Maybe the former president had no political experience, but he was anyways a skilled officer. That is why we are facing the economic crisis now," he rationalized.

When inquired whether it was not the former Finance Minister, Basil Rajapaksa who appointed the said officials, Gunathilaka said that it was President Gotabaya Rajapaksa, who was a good civil servant, who ruled the country.

Additionally, he said that as the SLPP is getting ready to come forward with a new program under the leadership of former PM Mahinda Rajapaksa, who has not yet been rejected by a majority of the country.
