State Ministers only lose Rs. 8,000/- : Hesha Vithanage

COLOMBO (News 1st); Samagi Jana Balawegaya MP Hesha Withanage revealed that State Ministers will only incur a loss of Rs. 8.000 by rejecting the benefits and privileges that comes with their position.

Speaking during an SJB press conference, the SJB MP said that the salary of a Parliamentarian is Rs. 54,585, while the salary of a State Minister is only Rs. 62,000.

Therefore, the MP said, that the newly appointed State Ministers will only incur a loss of Rs. 8,000 by rejecting the salary of a State Minister, while Ministers get a salary of Rs. 64,000.

"I think their close friends buy them tea with Rs. 8,000. This is misleading the public," he said.

Therefore, SJB MP Hesha Vithanage said that President Wickramasinghe should pay the state minister's salary and cut off their privileges.

He added that an additional Rs. billion per month is spent to maintain 37 State Ministers.
