Navy joins to douse Wattala fire

Navy leaps into action to extinguish fire at marshy-land in Wattala

COLOMBO (News 1st); Sri Lanka Navy assisted put out a sudden fire that broke out in bushes close to the swamp of Pubudugama, Wattala today (26). 

In response to a distress signal disseminated by the District Disaster Management Coordinating Unit, Gampaha, the Navy rushed 03 firefighting teams to the location to assist the firefighting efforts.

Accordingly, 02 fire engines and 03 water bowsers from the Western Naval Command were hurried to the scene of the fire. 

In addition, the Navy also dispatched 03 firefighting teams from SLNS Gemunu, Rangala, and Kelani to extinguish the blaze.

Working shoulder to shoulder with the rest of the firemen engaged in firefighting, the Navy firefighters made a spirited effort to extinguish the flames which were sweeping across the bushes near the marshyland.
