Non-Parliament parties to meet EC today (23)

COLOMBO (News 1st); The National Election Commission (NEC) says that a special discussion will be held today (23) between members of political parties who are NOT represented in Parliament and Election Monitors.

The Chairman of the National Election Commission Attorney-at-law Nimal G. Punchihewa said that representatives of 55 political parties have been invited to the meeting.

Previously, the NEC held discussions with all political parties represented in Parliament on the proposals of the Select Committee of Parliament to identify appropriate reforms of the election laws and the electoral system.

During the meeting with the political parties that are not represented in Parliament and Election Monitors, the implementation of the proposals on election reforms will be taken up for discussion.
