COLOMBO (News 1st); Minister of Power and Energy Kanchana Wijesekara says that Kerosene price revision was a must for many years.
He says that one main reason for CPC losses was selling fuel at subsidized prices.
"With prices now on par with costs the Govt has proposed a direct cash subsidy to low-income families, fisheries & plantation sectors that depend on kerosene", Minister tweeted.
The price of Kerosene was increased to Rs. 340/- per liter by the Ceylon Petroleum Corporation with effect from Sunday (31).
Accordingly, the price of Kerosene has increased by Rs 253/- per liter.
The previous price of kerosene was Rs. 87/- per liter.
