Legal action against Commonwealth defectors

COLOMBO (News 1st); The Director General of Sports, Amal Edirisuriya says that legal action will be taken with regard to the missing members of the Sri Lankan contingent which left to Birmingham, England to participate in the 2022 Commonwealth Games.

The Director General of Sports acknowledged that ten athletes have gone missing, and  relevant officials in the UK have been informed with regard to it.

However, the UK Police have faced difficulties in arresting the defectors as they have been granted visa for a period of six months, however, Edirisuriya stated that the maximum possible action will be taken under effective laws, once they return to Sri Lanka.
