COLOMBO (News 1st); Parliamentarian Wimal Weerawansa points out in a statement that it has been noted that the Sri Lankan Government had informed the Chinese Embassy to defer the Chinese vessel Yuan Wang 5's arrival in at Hambantota in the Sea of Sri Lanka.

MP Weerawansa says that he has been notified of the decision to temporarily suspend the permission granted to the vessel to come to Hambantota Port in order to obtain refuel and replenish as well.

The MP says that the Sri Lankan Government has taken this decision after the Indian Government strongly objected to its arrival.

Questioning whether closing the door to China for the sake of the Indo-Pacific conforms to Sri Lanka's non-aligned policy, the Parliamentarian emphasizes that Sri Lanka should follow the non-aligned foreign policy and nothing else.

In his letter, the MP emphasizes that Sri Lanka's crisis is being used to completely subjugate the country to Indo-Pacific agenda and the current administration has not escaped the influence of the Basil Rajapaksa-led campaign which has been working to make Sri Lanka a victim of the Indo-Pacific `misssion.

The Minister further emphasizes that such decisions taken under the influence of a destructive administration which brought the country to a standstill will only lead to a diplomatic issues with China, a good friend who has extended the hand of friendship to Sri Lanka in every difficult moment since time immemorial.
