COLOMBO (News 1st); The Ministry of Commerce says that the prices of several essential goods such as Dhal have been reduced by 20% to 25%. 

Minister Nalin Fernando stated that the shortage of essential food items has been addressed to a greater extent following the approval granted by the Central Bank to import essential goods through Open Accounts.

He also emphasized that the prices of many essential goods will be further reduced in the coming days. 

The Minister added that the price of 1kg of Dhal has reduced by around Rs. 150 recently.
