State of Emergency is against SLPP policies - GL

Chairman of the Sri Lanka Podujana Permuna Professor G. L. Peiris said that the imposition of the State of Emergency goes against the policies of the SLPP.

"Imposing a State of Emergency is a very serious matter, as it gives way for a dangerous situation. This leads to a curtailment of the fundamental rights of the people," said the Senior politician.

He said the State of Emergency become supreme when delared, and this paves the way to make void the other law that protect the rights of the people.

A State of Emergency is required, however, its imposition must be done after careful consideration, he said adding that the imposition of the State of Emergency cannot be justified as all.
