What happened to the Rs. 17 Mn from Prez House?

Court tells Police to produce Rs. 17.8 Mn found inside President's House on 9th July

COLOMBO (News 1st); The Fort Police OIC was ordered by the Fort Magistrate's Court to immediately produce the money handed over to Sri Lanka Police by the protestors who stormed the President's House on the 9th of July.

The Fort Police informed the Court that on the 9th of July 2022, protestors handed over Rs. 17.8 Million in cash that they found from inside the President's House in Colombo.

Fort Magistrate Thilina Gamage said that despite it being three weeks since the money was handed over to the police, no report on the money was submitted to the court.

Therefore, the Fort Police OIC was ordered by the Magistrate to immediately produce the Rs. 17.8 Million.

In addition, Fort Magistrate Thilina Gamage ordered the police to submit a report on the money as well.

The four men who were arrested for unlawfully entering the President's House on the 9th of July were released on personal bail of Rs. 500,000/- each.

Sri Lanka Police told the court that the four suspects were among those who were seen counting the money at the President's House.
