Ruling Party MPs to meet President today (26)

COLOMBO (News 1st); A special meeting of the group of MPs representing the ruling party will be held this afternoon, under the patronage of President Ranil Wickremesinghe. 

This marks the first meeting of the ruling party MPs after Ranil Wickremesinghe assumed office as the President.

Tomorrow the 27th of July 2022 was declared as a special parliament day, to take up the parliamentary debate on the present state of emergency and the legal regulations.

As per the regulations, the approval of the parliament must be obtained within 14 days after the promulgation of the emergency law.

The parliamentary debate in this regard will be held from 10:00 AM to 4:30 PM tomorrow.

A senior official of the Parliament said attention has been drawn on holding the parliamentary debate without a break.
