COLOMBO (News 1st); The Supreme Court dismissed the petition filed challenging the validity of Acting President Ranil Wickremesinghe’s seat in Parliament.
A petition seeking to invalidate the Parliamentary Seat of Acting President Ranil Wickremesinghe was filed by Attorney-at-Law Nagananda Kodithuwakku.
The petition was seeking an order preventing Ranil Wickramasinghe from serving as a Member of Parliament and, exercising his franchise in Parliament.
The Supreme Court bench comprising of Justices Gamini Amarasekara, Shiran Gunaratne, and Janak de Silva accepting the preliminary objections filed by the Attorney General and the respondents, decided to dismiss the application without taking it up for examination.
