No fuel to transport essentials to rural areas

COLOMBO (News 1st); The Association of Importers of Essential Goods say that the transport of essential food items to rural areas has been hampered due to the shortage of fuel.

Its media spokesperson, Nihal Seneviratne said that there is currently a shortage of sugar in the country as well.

He said that the reason for the shortage of sugar in the country is due to India imposing restrictions on the export of sugar.

However, Seneviratne said that the export restriction can be curbed if sugar is imported from India under a credit facility.
