COLOMBO (News 1st); Thousands of Sri Lankans made their way to the Colombo City to take part in a mass protest against President Gotabaya Rajapaksa and his government. The protest site dubbed #GotaGoGama was filled with people from all parts of the country, who defied a police curfew that was later lifted.
As Public Transportation Services were delayed, most of the Sri Lankans marched from their respective cities to Colombo while those who couldn’t were seen organizing massive protests in their closest city.
The protestors are demanding that the President, Prime Minister, and their government resign immediately and that the Rajapaksa family return the money they looted from the people over the years.
They blame the government for the mismanagement of the economy, which has sent prices of goods skyrocketing and the country’s reserves plummeting to levels reaching a record low.
