COLOMBO (News 1st); Sri Lanka Police said there will be obstruction towards peaceful protests.

“Information is being shared via social media about protests planned for today and tomorrow in Colombo and suburbs as well as other cities. Intelligence Agencies have reported that people will be reaching Colombo for protests today and tomorrow,” said Police Spokesperson SSP Nihal Thalduwa on Friday (8)

He said that Sri Lanka Police has no issue in the people exercising their rights in a peaceful manner.

“Peaceful protests were never obstructed. However, if these protests turn violence Sri Lanka Police will be forced to act within the legal framework,” he added.
