COLOMBO (News 1st); Sri Lanka’s Defence Secretary Retired General Kamal Gunaratne in a video statement this evening said that information has come to light that certain elements are attempting to incite violence under the guise of peaceful protests.

The Defence Secretary urged all responsible citizens to act with patience during these trying times, and refrain from engaging in any unlawful act.

Further, he said the Sri Lanka Police and the Three Armed forces have been empowered to take action against anyone that engages in any form of violent act.

The Defence Secretary requested the public to render their support to the security forces who are always committed to protecting the motherland and the people.
