COLOMBO (News 1st); The Department of Postal Services says that due to the trade union action initiated by the postal workers, over 400 parcels have been piled up in the overseas section of the Colombo Central Post Exchange.

The Postmaster General Ranjith Ariyaratne said that due to this, more than Rs.20 Million in income is lost to the Department.

Postmaster General Ranjith Ariyaratne further said that if the postal workers engaged in trade union action fail to report to work, they will be considered as having vacated their positions.

However, due to the fuel crisis, the postal service currently operates only on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays.
