COLOMBO (News 1st); The Public Service Commission has directed a series of guidelines that need to be following when appointing Police OICs.
The guidelines were forwarded to the Inspector General of Police, after amending the proposals sent by the IGP to the Public Service Commission.
Recently, it was revealed that Sri Lanka Police is not in possession of a proper mechanism to appoint OIC to police stations.
Thereafter, the Public Service Commission had called for a report from the IGP, and the latter had thereafter submitted a series of proposals to the PSC.
The report was submitted by the IGP in response to an inquiry made by the Public Service Commission on his statement that 182 OICs had been appointed on political recommendations.
