Police jeep pumps fuel into cans, locals protest

COLOMBO (News 1st); Tensions arose at the Gampaha cooperative filling station, when the Police attempted to fill fuel into cans by skipping the queue. 

The queued up public demanded to see the relevant government order issued to the police officers in question, allowing them to fill fuel into cans, as the Police too, responded by saying that they too purchased the relevant fuel after paying the due amount. 

Minister of Energy, Kanchana Wijesekara previously stated that essential service members, including the Police, will be allowed to obtain fuel on select days.
