COLOMBO (News 1st); The paddy owned by the Paddy Marketing Board (PMD), will be converted into rice and will be sold under the PMB Rice brand from next week.

The Paddy Marketing Board (PMD) said that the program will be implemented on the instructions of the Minister of Agriculture Mahinda Amaraweera.

Arrangements have been made to distribute the rice under the PMB Rice brand to the public at a lower price than the control price.

Accordingly, the rice will be sold to the people of Colombo within the next week.

Rice bags in the range of 5kg and 10 kg will be sold by National Food Promotion Board lorries at various locations in Colombo.

The first batch of 200,000 bags of rice will be sold in Colombo.

The Minister of Agriculture Mahinda Amaraweera said that steps will be taken to distribute rice under the PMB Rice brand through Sathosa and other supermarkets throughout the country after the next season.
