21 deported Sri Lankans arrive from Australia

COLOMBO (News 1st); 21 Sri Lankans who were deported from Australia have been repatriated to Sri Lanka this morning (19).

According to the correspondent, they were arrested for trying to enter Australia illegally by boat and were later detained at Christmas Island.

The group has been sent back to the island via a special plane.

They have been identified as residents of Negombo, Mullaitivu, Chilaw, Udappuwa, Thoduwawa and Marawila areas.

Meanwhile, the Department of Immigration and Emigration stated that another group will be repatriated to Sri Lanka from Christmas Island tomorrow (20).
