COLOMBO (News 1st); Sri Lanka Police arrested nine people in connection to the unrest that broke out at the Athurugiriya filling station late on Friday (18).
Police Spokesperson SSP Nihal Thalduwa speaking to News 1st said that a group among those who were waiting in line to pump fuel had broken into the filling station premises after it was announced that the filling station had run out of fuel.
He said that police officers were attacked by the mob.
The Police Spokesperson said that necessary measures were taken to control the situation, however, six police officers were injured.
