COLOMBO (News 1st); After fuel prices hit a record high in Sri Lanka this year, the island nation is facing a severe shortage in fuel due to depleted foreign reserves.
Sri Lankans have been waiting in line for days and weeks to purchase fuel, which is now being prioritized for essential services.
As Sri Lankans lose patience while waiting in line and directly blaming the President and the government for mismanagement, protests have broken out at filling stations demanding fuel, while also obstructing the flow of traffic.
Protest took place in Union Place – Colombo 2, Hanwella, Nawala, Peliyagoda, and Kalutara on Thursday (16) morning.
