COLOMBO (News 1st); Minister of Agriculture Mahinda Amaraweera instructed the Paddy Marketing Board to issue 10,000 MT of rice per month.

He said this at a special meeting held at the Paddy Marketing Board Head Office on Thursday (16).

Minister Amaraweera instructed to issue such stocks of rice to eliminate the shortage of rice, and crackdown on unnecessary price hikes.

The Minister of Agriculture further said to immediately release 5kg and 10kg bags of rice under the name ‘RMB RICE’ to the market using the stocks of samba currently available at the Paddy Marketing Board.
