COLOMBO (News 1st); The Government plans to declare Friday as a public holiday, said the Minister of Public Administration, Home Affairs, Provincial Councils and Local Government, Dinesh Gunawardena.

He said this decision was reached due to the current fuel crisis and the cost incurred for public servants to travel to work.

Pointing out that public servants are accustomed to working from home since the COVID-19 pandemic took over, the Minister said that if public servants desire to engage in agricultural activities from home, facilities will be provided for that very purpose.
