Police hunt for jewellery thief

COLOMBO (News 1st); Police have launched an investigation to arrest a woman who stole jewelry off a man after drugging him.

Police stated that the man had arrived at a hotel in Tissamaharama with a woman whom he befriended off Facebook.

Later, he was drugged by the woman and jewellery of 15 pounds worth Rs. 2.7 million was stolen.

The woman had then fled in the same vehicle that they arrived in, which was later found by the Police abandoned near Tissa Lake.

Information has been received that the victim is a 40-year old resident from Colombo, while Police stated that the suspect arrived in the country three days ago, from South Korea.

Police have also requested to contact the OIC of Tissamaharama Police via 0718591505 if any further information of the suspect's whereabouts are found.
