COLOMBO (News 1st); Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina said her country may provide Potatoes to Sri Lanka amidst the impending crisis.

The Prime Minister shared these remarks when Secretary General of South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC) Esala Ruwan Weerakoon paid a courtesy call on Sunday (5).

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina urged the South Asian countries to work together in the fight against poverty, describing it as the main enemy in the region.

SAARC Secretary-General Esala Ruwan Weerakoon stressed the need for strengthening the SAARC food bank.

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina said Bangladesh, despite being a country with a huge population, may provide Potatoes to Sri Lanka during this crisis.

She said Bangladesh has taken steps to grow more food amid the global food problem following the COVID-19 pandemic and Ukraine-Russia war.
