COLOMBO (News 1st); The Public Service Commission says that it will review two reports submitted by the IGP on Tuesday (7).

The IGP has submitted the two reports in response to inquiries made by the Public Service Commission.

A Spokesperson to the Public Service Commission stated that the first inquiry was pertaining a letter written by the IGP, saying that 182 OICs were appointed with political influence.

The IGP has submitted his report on the matter to the commission seven days after the inquiry was launched.

The second inquiry was launched into the transfer of three senior DIGs with immediate effect, without the approval of the Public Service Commission.

The commission mentioned that the Secretary to the Ministry of Defense and IGP had sanctioned these transfers violating the authority vested in the Public Service Commission, and in both cases, the Public Service Commission is of the view that the Secretary to the Ministry of Defense and the Inspector General of Police have acted beyond their powers.

The Public Service Commission stated that a final decision will be taken next Tuesday (7) on the possible action to be taken on the two reports submitted by the IGP.
