COLOMBO (News 1st); Former Minister of Youth and Sports, Namal Rajapaksa says that the only way forward for the country is to have progressive dialogue, come to an understanding and move forward.
In an interview, the SLPP MP said that it is necessary to bring everyone together and work on Sri Lanka’s future development agenda.
Pointing out that the people were demanding for top officials to resign due to the economic crisis, the former Minister said that this economic crisis cannot be solved with resignations.
He also mentioned that the economic structure of the country needs to transform, while he would support steps taken for the progress of the nation.
Therefore, the former Minister emphasized that the only way forward for Sri Lanka is to move into a manufacturing-based economy, and advised the people to promote Sri Lanka as much as possible to benefit the tourism sector, and to bring in foreign remittance into the country.
Although many speak of popular slogans, the former Minister said that no slogan helps the country economically. Therefore, he mentioned, the only wat forward is to have progressive dialogue, and to come to an understanding.
“Afterwards, we should let the people decide for themselves when the time comes, in an election,” he added.
