COLOMBO (News 1st); The Minister of Health assures that the medicine shortage will be resolved by upcoming August.
Speaking to media, Minister Keheliya Rambukwella pointed out that in addition to consignments of essential medicines from the Chinese and Japanese Governments, he has also received USD 400 million for the purpose of importing essential medicines from the World Bank, the Asian Development Bank and other countries.
However, the Minister said that a delay will be experienced as manufacturers take steps to manufacture the relevant medicines after the order for the consignment is received.
He assured, however, that the medicine shortage will be rectified after June and July months, as there will be no issues in importing medicines from August onward.
