COLOMBO (News 1st); The Colombo Chief Magistrate decided to postpone considering the application for bail made by Shashi Weerawansa, who was sentenced to two-years in prison.
The application was to be considered on Monday (30), however it was postponed to Tuesday (31).
Shashi Weerawansa, the wife of Former Minister Wimal Weerawansa filed an appeal challenging the 2-year prison sentence and fine imposed on her after she was found guilty of possessing a fake passport.
The Colombo Magistrate decided to consider a request for bail made on behalf of Shashi Weerawansa on the 30th of May, as Weerawansa had already filed an appeal challenging the sentence.
The request was called up in the official chambers of Colombo Additional Magistrate Harshana Kekunawela on Friday (27).
Shashi Weerawansa, the wife of Former Minister Wimal Weerawansa was sentenced to two years in prison after she was found guilty of obtaining a passport by submitting false information.
The Colombo Magistrate’s Court also ordered a fine of Rs. 100,000/-, and an additional six months in prison if she does not pay the fine.
