30% of medicine shortages addressed

COLOMBO (News 1st); Minister of Health Keheliya Rambukwella said that due to the assistance received from several countries including India and France, the current shortage of medicines has been reduced by about 30%.

Taking to Twitter, the Health Minister personally thanked Dr. Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, the Director-General of the World Health Organization for recognizing the dedicated commitment of Sri Lankan medical health professionals.

Dr. Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus in a meeting with Sri Lanka's Director General of Health Services Dr. Asela Gunawardena had discussed how the WHO can help address immediate gaps in medicines and medical equipment due to the economic crisis and also help maintain primary health care services.
