19A to be implemented as 21A & Executive Presidency will be abolished - Party Leaders reach agreement

COLOMBO (News 1st); The Party Leaders who attended Friday's (27) meeting with the Prime Minister to discuss constitutional amendments have agreed to implement the 19th Amendment as the 21st Amendment to the Constitution.

Further, they also agreed to abolish the executive presidency, as a second step on the way forward.

The Prime Minister's Media Division said the Party Leaders would continue their deliberations on whether the President should hold the Ministry of Defence with him.
