COLOMBO (News 1st); The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) has arrested 14 suspects in connection with the homicide of late Member of Parliament Amarakeerthi Athukorala.

Police Spokesman SSP Nihal Thalduwa stated that a person who was in possession of the pistol issued to the Police sergeant who was the MP’s bodyguard has also been arrested.

Moreover, Police also recovered the pistol that was used in the shooting, and police said the suspect is a retired Army soldier who was operating a vegetable stand in Nittambuwa.

The Member of Parliament died during the riots that took place on the 9th of May.
