COLOMBO (News 1st); Speaking in the News 1sts 10 questions program Minister Manusha Nanayakkara said the President will resign if he is pointed out an exit path.

The newly-appointed Minister of Labour and Foreign Employment, Manusha Nanayakkara pointed out that if one is to slay the dragon, one must first enter its mouth. Therefore, the Minister questions; if the person in question has committed a wrong, and if nothing can be uncovered as long as that person remains in power, and if calls for that person to step down continue, will the crises faced by the people be solved?

Pointing out that neither would indeed happen, Nanayakkara said that the only alternative is to work together with the thieves to catch the thieves.

"I recently asked President Rajapaksa what his plan is when it comes to his resignation. I asked for his timetable. I asked him when the 21st amendment will be tabled and when the executive will be abolished. We have inquired into these," he said.

The people elected the President, the Minister said, and now the people are asking the president to leave. However, what the President said was that he cannot allow the country to go into anarchy, and he said he needs a system.

"He will create that system to not to let the country go into anarchy and resign. When we create an exit path for him, I think he will leave," he added.
