Army contingent leaves for Mali on Peacekeeping

Sri Lanka Army's 4th Combat Convoy Company leave for Mali for peacekeeping missions

COLOMBO (News 1st); Sri Lanka Army’s newest contingent of 243 professionally-trained Army personnel from 12 Regiments in (20 Officers and 223 Other Ranks) in the 4th Combat Convoy Company (CCC), left Sri Lanka to serve in the United Nations (UN) Multidimensional Integrated Stabilization Mission in Mali (MINUSMA).

The first group of CCC departed for Mali yesterday (23) from the Bandaranaike International Airport.

Accordingly, 10 Officers and 90 Other Ranks amid best wishes of the Chief of Defence Staff and Commander of the Army General Shavendra Silva left the country for Mali yesterday.

At a time when the country is seeking solutions for the prevailing economic downturn, our heroes provide their maximum contribution to serve the motherland they have won, said the Sri Lanka Army.
