COLOMBO (News 1st); Long queues for fuel are seen many areas across Sri Lanka since last night. However, the Ceylon Petroleum Corporation says the distribution of fuel will continue.

A protest is currently being held near the Kakkapalliya filling station along the Chilaw - Colombo main road demanding fuel.

Our correspondent reported that the filling station hasn't received fuel in four days.

Meanwhile, the joint Secretary of the Sri Lanka Petroleum Private Tanker Owners' Association Shantha Silva stated that they will have to withdraw from fuel transportation services if adequate protection is not provided.

Minister of Power and Energy Kanchana Wijesekara yesterday (21) stated that a policy decision was made to not supply fuel to filling stations opposite which protests are held by disrupting the movement of vehicles.
